Job description
Your Mission
You don't just want to conduct research, but actively shape the future of industrial insect farming?
In this role, you work at the interface of genetics, breeding, and biological performance improvement of our Black Soldier Fly (BSF). You develop new approaches to optimize our breeding programs, analyze genetic and phenotypic data, and contribute to translating scientific findings into measurable progress for our production.
In short: You ensure that our insect populations become more efficient, robust, and productive - making a direct contribution to the sustainable transformation of the bioeconomy.
Your Tasks
Planning, conducting, and evaluating experiments in the field of breeding and performance improvement of the Black Soldier Fly
Development and further development of breeding lines as well as supervision of ongoing breeding programs
Analysis of biological, genetic, and performance-related data using suitable statistical and software tools
Deriving concrete recommendations for action from test results and scientific findings
Continuous optimization of methods, processes, SOPs, and digital workflows
Establishment, maintenance, and further development of our breeding and research infrastructure
Molecular and phenotypic characterization of larvae and adult insects
Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams within Research & Development
Support of scientific collaborations as well as participation in conferences and research projects
Your Profile
Completed master's degree in Biology, Genetics, Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology, Animal Sciences, or a related field
Alternatively, a bachelor's degree with several years of relevant professional experience
Experience in planning, conducting, and evaluating scientific experiments
Knowledge of statistics and data analysis, ideally with Excel, R, Python, or similar tools
Interest in genetics, breeding, entomology, or biological performance optimization
Structured, careful, and reliable way of working
Analytical thinking and pronounced problem-solving skills
Enjoyment of teamwork, knowledge exchange, and interdisciplinary collaboration
Good English skills minimum Level B2
